The hugely popular Star Wars: The Old Republic online game is going to be free to play this weekend. There are a few restrictions, but if you have never had an account before and are a gamer, this is a promotion worth taking advantage of.

What you need to know.

• The free play weekend starts late Wednesday night (technically Thursday, March 15 at 12:01AM CT). It runs through Monday, March 19 at 2:00AM CT.
• Right now there is only a PC version.
• You can’t start to download the game until the free weekend opens up.
• No credit card is required.
• This game requires a large download. Expect your download to take up to two hours.
• The trial is open to new accounts only. You cannot have an active, pending or closed game trial account.
